4 Signs Your Body is Nutritionally Starving!

August 6, 2018 By Liz

nutritionally starving

It is no secret. Aside from the fact that diets simply do not work for sustainable weight loss…the one-size-fits-all meal plans make me cra-ca!

The truth is that we are all unique. Literally, one person´s food is another person´s poison. And, here’s the thing… our bodies are constantly trying to guide and communicate with us. Sadly, many of us ignore them! While some people tell me that they intuitively know that their body is speaking to them, they often aren’t sure how to understand and interpret the messages that their body is sending.

The truth is that discomfort is NOT normal. It should never be tolerated. It is your body sending you an SOS. It is a cry for HELP!

Here are four signs… think “Billboard size”… that you can help you better listen to and understand your own body. These will tell you that your body is nutritionally starving as well as what types of nutritional support it needs to be healthy and happy. [Read more…]

This is what people regret most….

June 15, 2018 By Liz

There are two words that people utter before they stop themselves…. from choosing… from DOING something… from trying something out…from “going for it”… from making a decision that could change their life for the better…from losing weight.

These two little words hold so much power!

“What if.”

What if I can’t do it?

What if it doesn’t work?

What if they laugh?

What if I look foolish?

What if I fail?

What if people talk?

What if they judge me?

What if it doesn’t turn out perfect?

What if I’m wrong????

Do you think like this sometimes? Because if you do, I have a few questions for you:

What if you do it? And it works out beyond your expectations and wildest dreams?

What if it works out splendidly? And so easily you can hardly believe it? [Read more…]

Spring Cleaning…for Your Body

April 28, 2018 By Liz

spring cleaning

There is something to be said for Spring cleaning. It signals that the long dark days of Winter are over. It literally brings a breath of fresh air into our homes. But what about our bodies?  What about a change of pace from all the heavier and harder to digest foods we tend to favor in the Winter?  In the Ayurvedic tradition, there is a special cleanse recommended for Spring. It’s simple and only takes 4 days. There are practices in this cleanse which actually benefit us year-round because they help the lymph system, which is the detox engine in our bodies. There are five easy steps to this cleanse. Think COMFORT! Think SPA!!!

Step 1. Oleation with Ghee (an amazing detox vehicle)

Every morning after scraping tongue with a tongue scraper and cleaning teeth, drink melted ghee in increasing amounts. Ghee (clarified butter) is available in health food stores or on-line. It’s also easy to make.

Day 1: 2 tsp Ghee

Day 2: 4 tsp Ghee [Read more…]

Not Your Mother’s Spring Cleaning

April 25, 2018 By Liz

spring cleaning

Here we are in April! The month of Spring flowers… which always brightens my mood.

It is the month of Spring cleaning…. or at least the start of it, depending on where you live.  When I lived in Vermont, then Montreal and then New York, I remember (not so) patiently waiting for the day when the mud room could be cleared, the boot trays retired, and the winter coats put away. Snowstorms are not that uncommon in April, it turns out. That Lion of Winter often wore out his welcome at my house.

Speaking of Spring cleaning… Spring is the favored time of year for the body to renew itself and an excellent time for a cleanse and any kind of detoxification.  Some cultures do this cleansing as a matter of course.  It’s a seasonal thing. In my opinion, that makes sense.  And, truth be told, this “cleanse” is more like giving your body/digestive system a little vacation. I am not in favor of the “cleansing” touted by the MLM corporations, who would have you believe that cleansing [Read more…]
